school districts (ISD's) - the largest being the Tyler
Independent School District (Tyler ISD). The following

Somewhat unusual for its size, Tyler
is home to 3 colleges and universities and other educational
facilities that provide a very large and
talented employment pool with an advanced education.

TJC is a two-year college with approximately 12,000 students. The college is accredited to award the associate in arts degree, the associate in applied science degree and certificates of proficiency. As such, TJC provides
solid basics for freshman and sophomore students who
plan to transfer to upper-level universities, along
with technical degrees and certificate programs.

TJC’s West Campus provides corporate and continuing education training to a wide range of both companies and individuals throughout the East Texas region. For the fiscal year 2008 (September 1, 2007 - August 31, 2008) 45,517 students were served through the School of Continuing Studies. Also located on the West Campus, the Skills Training Center had 548 students enrolled in the automotive program and 220 in the welding program in the 2007-2008 school year.

Opened in fall 2006, this state-of-the-art facility houses some UT Tyler’s high quality undergraduate and graduate engineering and science programs relevant to the rapidly changing technological world. This includes such programs as civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, as well as chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science and computer information systems.

As the only university-based health science center in East Texas, UTHSCT is home to 26 medical specialties, a hospital and 24/7 emergency room, as well as laboratory and clinical research facilities. Medical education programming includes two medical residency programs in Family Medicine and Occupational Health, collaborative degree programs in Environmental Medicine and in Biotechnology, clinical rotations for nurses and other allied health providers, and continuing education for physicians and other health care specialists. In June 2005, UTHSCT was given authority to award academic degrees.

Founded in 1894, Texas College offers
16 baccalaureate degree programs within three divisions
and has maintained a commitment to academic excellence
for over 100 years. Enrollment is currently at 735.
