Averitt Express to Build New Service Center in Tyler

The Smith County Commissioners Court approved a five-year tax abatement for Averitt Express to construct a new service center on State Highway 155 near Interstate 20. The new $10 million 20,000-square-foot will add 25 new jobs over the next three years, with an average salary of $71,000, with benefits.

“Averitt Express is a leading freight transportation and supply chain management provider with international reach based in Cookeville, Tennessee. Our company plans to expand operations in Smith County to include the construction of a new, state-of-the-art service center. This investment will allow for a greater depth of services for customers and associates throughout the state as well as the creation of additional jobs for the community. Averitt looks forward to expanding our presence in this region of Texas” said Barry Blakely, Averitt Express President and Chief Operating Officer.

The project is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2024.
