John Soules Foods, Inc. began operations in Tyler in 1975. For the past several decades, growth has been the major influence driving the company’s success. John Soules Foods is recognized nationally as a leading producer of high-quality value-added meat products. In addition, the company has emerged as the leading fajita processing and marketing company in the U.S. John Soules Foods distributes its line of fajita products to foodservice distributors, multi-unit national and regional restaurant groups, supermarket chains, and institutional businesses.
In May 1996, John Soules Foods began operations in its newly constructed 83,000 square foot, state-of-the-art, USDA inspected processing facility on 67 acres of land just north of Tyler. Construction of additional supporting buildings after 1996 increased the total plant facility to a size of 266,000 square feet, including a 125,000 expansion in 2006 and the completion of a 26,000 square foot office building in 2017.
Since 2014, John Soules Foods expansion projects have added $67 million in capital investment and 525 new jobs to the local economy in Tyler/Smith County.
